I regularly practice yoga and recently discovered the meaning of Dancer pose. It references the Hindu Deity Shiva in his aspect as Lord of the Dance. In a broader context, it is about finding peace in the midst of chaos and embracing change. So how do we do this?
Take five deep breaths
Anticipate change and make it work to your advantage
Change in temperature by splashing cold water on your face or putting your hands in cold water (not recommended for those with heart problems)
Exercise, especially cardio
Take a short walk outdoors
Listen to a favorite song
With the exception of trying to anticipate change, these are all short-term strategies. On-going stress can lead to other health issues. However, sometimes taking a short-term approach can help you get to a place where you can make bigger changes. How do you find peace in chaos?
