Getting in Touch with Your Creativity

We may feel stuck in survival mode after the events of the past year. It may be hard to be creative. Take a quick break with this creativity meditation

Find a comfortable seat or lay down on a mat. Breathe deeply…in and out.

Breath in calm and peace.

Breath out stress and distraction.

Close your eyes or let your gaze soften. Let each breath help you to become more relaxed. Find a focal point.

Today we are going to examine our creative selves. We are meant to be creative beings. We each have a unique gift to offer the world.

However, there are often many reasons we don’t feel creative. We may have misconceptions about what creativity is…and isn’t

We may be comparing ourselves to others

We might be confronting fear—fear of the unknown or fear of not having the skills

We may find that aspects of our lives are out of balance.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Breathe in courage…and let fear flow away with your breath out.

Breathe in a sense of your own unique inner self-worth…and breathe away your inner-critic.

Imagine a see-saw or a set of old-fashioned balance scales. Are you are holding on to things or emotions that weigh you down? Give yourself permission to let them go

Re-examine your balance. What can you shuffle so each side is more even? Are there task and duties you can give to someone else?

Take a moment to breathe freely without judgement.

Breathe in courage…and let fear flow away as you breathe out.

Breathe in a sense of our own unique inner self-worth…and breathe away your inner-critic.

If we are always putting our own needs last, we will be out of balance. Our creativity, our emotional resilience, and our physical health will suffer.

Know that you are taking some time for yourself right now, helping to restore your energy and ability to meet the needs that you can’t easily set aside. No judgement. No fear.

You are good enough. Creativity is part of your being. It is there within your reach.

Think of the time that you have felt most creative. Don’t worry if that experience is different from anyone else’s. It is unique to you! Creativity is part of your being. You can have more experiences like that one!

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Breathe in courage…and let fear flow away with your breath out.

Breathe in a sense of your own unique inner self-worth…and breathe away your inner-critic.

Take another moment and then bring your attention back to the outer world. Hear the ordinary sounds around you. Flutter your eyes open. Start to move and stretch in your body. You are a creative being. Carry these feelings of confidence with you throughout your day.
