Social Skills class update

Another gloomy rainy day here in Lincoln but lots going on musically! Reminder that registration is coming to a close for our Preschool Social Skills Class. You can register through October 16 which is this coming Tuesday.

Some Frequently asked questions

How is this different from other preschool music classes? It may look similar to a typical music class with dancing and lots of rhythm activities but the primary focus is on social skills.

What if my child is older/younger than four to six years old? An important Music Therapy principle is using materials and methods that are both age and developmentally appropriate. There is a great deal of difference between a student who has started kindergarten and one who has not. In addition, younger children typically don’t function well independently in a group. This group is for children to interact with each other rather than their parents.

Are there groups for younger or older children? Not at this time but I will certainly start one if I know that there is interest!

Do you have a set curriculum? Interventions and activities are based on the competencies identified in the 2018 Nebraska Early Learning guidelines and on the needs of the children. There is an informal assessment as part of the first session.
