Guitar Skills

I have a confession to make. I’m not a very good guitar player. For the most part, it isn’t a big deal because I have a number of other instruments to fall back on. I also don’t need complex skills for the populations I’m currently working with. However, there’s a reason that music therapists are expected to have a certain set of guitar skills. It is one of the most portable and versatile instruments out there. In addition, what’s popular and appropriate with Elders now is changing and will be completely different in a few years. As a private practice music therapist, I should be just as prepared to work with teens or young adults. So….I’m making a commitment to improve my skills. Don’t expect to see me shredding but I can and will get better! I’m also pretty excited to get some new guitar books!
